KUWAIT: The General Department for Drugs Control made a major drugs bust at sea, seizing large quantities of narcotics and arresting three people, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. The Drugs Control men were tipped off by a secret informer of the impending drugs smuggling into the country. With the help of the Coast Guards, they intercepted a speed boat after offloading the smuggled drugs at the shore.

The Ministry said that the contraband drugs included 308 kilograms of Hashish, one million pills of Lyrica pills in addition to half a million of Captagon pills with a market value of KD 2.5 million. The Ministry said the drugs came from a neighboring country without naming it and did not identify the nationality of the three smugglers.

This is part of Ministry of Interior’s efforts to combat drug traffickers and dealers, stemming from a commitment to joint security cooperation. The Ministry stressed its commitment and vigilance against anyone attempting to smuggle and trade in narcotics, urging everyone to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities through (112).— Agencies
