KUWAIT: Ministry of Interior personnel arrested tens of people in security campaigns and operations over the weekend. A “comprehensive security and traffic campaign” in Al-Jahra Governorate supervised by First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, resulted in the arrest of 54 people on several charges. Nine individuals were arrested for lacking appropriate identification, 14 for violating residency and labor laws, and nine for absconding. Personnel issued over 2,000 traffic violations, seized 19 wanted vehicles and apprehended 10 individuals for drug-related charges. The ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining security and order throughout the country.

The ministry also announced the arrest of two Kuwaiti citizens, including an officer from the Ministry of Interior, along with four expatriates involved in distributing a large quantity of imported alcohol. A press statement revealed that the operation resulted in the seizure of about 3,000 bottles of imported liquor, in addition to hashish and cash in both Kuwaiti Dinars and US Dollars, with an estimated market value of KD 200,000. In a separate operation, ministry personnel targeted a gang of residency brokers led by two Arab nationals and several companies for residency law violations. The suspects are accused of recruiting workers for an unnamed company in exchange for fees ranging from KD 700 to KD 1,000 per laborer. The ministry confirmed that legal action has been taken against everyone involved.— KUNA
