KUWAIT: His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award announced on Sunday the victory of 60 participants in the ninth edition of the awareness-raising cultural competition “I saw Kuwait” that was launched under the title ‘Kuwait Humanity’ on September 9, marking the 10th anniversary of the UN’s historic honoring of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a Leader of Humanitarian Action and naming Kuwait as a Global Center for Humanitarian Action.

Member of the Board of Trustees and Head of the Award’s Higher Organizing Committee Eng Bassam Al-Shammari told KUNA that the competition was launched on social media platforms (X), (Instagram) and (Facebook), targeting all social classes in various countries to highlight the humanitarian contributions that distinguished Kuwait to obtain this unprecedented global designation.

Al-Shammari added that the competition did not exceed ten days during which only five questions were asked, one question every two days, and more than 21,000 participated in it, but the winners were 60 from ten Arab countries: Kuwait, Yemen, Egypt, Algeria, Sudan, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

For his part, member of the Board of Trustees and member of the Higher Organizing Committee Rajab Al-Aloush told KUNA that the competition shed light on Kuwait’s journey in humanitarian work and achieved success and wide turnout from various Arab countries, congratulating the winners of the competition, which has become a distinctive mark in the history of the award.

Al-Aloush added that the topics of the competition varied during its previous eight versions, as the first version was launched in 2010 under the title ‘National and Information Culture’, the second in 2011 under the title ‘Religious and Information Culture’, the third in 2012 under the title ‘Information Culture’, the fourth in 2013 under the title ‘Information Security’, and the fifth in 2015 under the title ‘Kuwait Humanity’. He explained that the sixth edition of the competition was hosted by the award pavilion at the Kuwait International Book Fair (43) under the title ‘Artificial Intelligence’ in 2018 and in 2019 under the title ‘Technical Transformations in Education’, and the eighth edition of this cultural awareness-raising technical competition was held in 2021 under the title ‘Your Health’. — KUNA

He stated that the competition provided, during its journey, rich and abundant information in various awareness paths and encouraging material prizes, and its journey is still aspiring to further spread culture and knowledge and strive to build the human being in a solid scientific manner that qualifies him to participate in the process of building the civilization of society. – KUNA
