KUWAIT: The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications, has invited qualified companies and alliances to submit proposals (RFP) for the development of fixed telecommunications networks in the country. In a statement to KUNA on Saturday, the authority announced that the qualified participants include Bahrain Telecommunication, IN International Holding Ltd., Tam - SPA and Procivis Corporation.

The authority clarified that the partnership contract will be established between the Ministry of Communications and the project company in accordance with Law 116/2014 regarding public-private partnerships and its executive regulations. The partnership agreement will have a duration of 50 years, including the construction period, and will encompass the necessary sites for developing and operating the network.

The project aims to provide a high-speed network, initially targeting speeds of 10 gigabits per second, and to deploy a fiber optic network that covers at least 90 percent of homes in Kuwait. Additionally, the project seeks to offer improved commercial packages and services to subscribers, aiding Internet service providers in expanding broadband access, reducing operational costs for the ministry, and creating job and training opportunities for citizens in the information and communications technology sector. — KUNA
