KUWAIT: The Ministry of Health organized the first training course for doctors of the Kuwaiti Board of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and participants from various specialties on the mechanism of conducting scientific research and practical training. Head of the Otorhinolaryngology Department at Farwaniya Hospital and Director of the Otorhinolaryngology Program at the Ministry, Dr Ahmad Al-Rashidi, said in a press statement on Saturday that the aim of the course, organized by the administration of the Kuwaiti Board of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) Program, is to know all the requirements and techniques required to publish this scientific research, whether locally or internationally.

Al-Rashidi pointed out that this comes within the framework of the Ministry’s constant efforts to develop and enhance the capabilities of its doctors and the continuous encouragement of the Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi for continuing medical education and raising the scientific and professional level of doctors in Kuwait, noting that the course was held with the support of officials of postgraduate studies at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations.

He stated that Dr. Ahmed Haraz lectured on the principles and basics of scientific research and how to formulate it in a way that ensures its acceptance for international publication, with a remarkable presence of Kuwaiti Board doctors and a number of doctors working in the Ministry. Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist and Head of the College of Otorhinolaryngology, Dr Abdul Mohsen Al-Turki, explained that scientific research is the key to progress and advancement in medical services and keeping pace with medical developments in various parts of the world, indicating that many similar scientific and research events will be held in the future.

Al-Turki stressed the need to encourage doctors to conduct medical research in order to enhance their capabilities and excel in providing services with a high level of accuracy in diagnosis, treatment, and the best health practices for members of society. For his part, Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist and Scientific Research Officer at the Kuwaiti Board of Otorhinolaryngology, Dr. Tamim Al-Ali, said that the interest of Kuwaiti Board doctors in scientific research and their efforts to learn its foundations and how to formulate it is a clear indication of raising the level of medical services in the future and placing Kuwait medically in a prestigious position among various countries.

Al-Ali stated that the Ministry pays great attention to medical education and training programs and sponsors scientific activities and training courses to encourage keeping up with the latest developments globally and locally and exchanging knowledge and expertise in a way that reflects on the service provided to patients and the reality of the health system in general. He said that holding such training courses is evidence of doctors’ insistence on scientific progress and development, pointing to the importance of the various topics raised by the course and the new developments in the broad field of specialization that aim to enhance optimal medical practice based on evidence and the role of young doctors in research and publication. — KUNA
