KUWAIT: The Ministry of Oil affirmed on Saturday the importance of the 18th meeting of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Petroleum in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, scheduled to be held in Qatar on Monday, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation in the field of oil and gas to face regional and global challenges in the oil market.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Sheikh Dr Nemer Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah, said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the meeting aims to present a unified Gulf vision on the international scene that enhances the region’s position as a major source of energy. Sheikh Nemer Al-Sabah explained that this meeting comes in preparation for the meeting of the Petroleum Cooperation Committee at the level of oil ministers, which will be held on October 6, where many important issues will be discussed to enhance joint work among member states.

He pointed out that the agenda includes discussing and approving four main topics and six other topics for review and briefing, stressing the importance of effective coordination among GCC countries to face future challenges in the energy sector, unify visions, and present a unified Gulf vision on the international scene that enhances the region’s position as a major source of energy.

For her part, the Director of Public Relations and Petroleum Media at the Ministry, Sheikha Tamader Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, said in a statement to KUNA that the 18th meeting reflects the importance of cooperation to enhance Gulf integration in the oil and gas sector, especially since this meeting comes at an important time when the world is witnessing rapid changes in energy markets. She added that Kuwait always places Gulf cooperation at the forefront of its priorities, expressing its aspiration through this meeting to strengthen ties and work together to direct efforts towards achieving economic and environmental sustainability in the oil and energy sector.

She stated that Gulf cooperation is a fundamental pillar in enhancing the stability of oil markets, stressing that integration between the GCC countries in facing increasing challenges will contribute to enhancing competitive capabilities at the global level and secure the future of the oil and energy sector in the region. The Kuwaiti delegation, which will be headed by Sheikh Nemer Al-Sabah, includes Sheikha Tamader Al-Sabah, Director of the Planning and International Relations Department, Manahil Al-Rashidi, and Director of the Office of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Mudhi Al-Shammari. — KUNA
