NEW YORK: Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, received Tuesday several world leaders as well as representatives from the business and tech worlds. The meetings took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly at Kuwait’s permanent mission headquarters in New York.

The leaders, which the Crown Prince met with separately, included Maldives President Dr Mohammad Muizzu, Chairman of the Presidential Council in Yemen Rashed Al-Alimi, Mauritanian President and the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Mohammad Ould Ghazouani and Somalian Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.

His Highness the Crown Prince conveyed greetings from His Highness the Amir to the leaders. He also discussed topics of mutual interest with each leader, according to KUNA, and reviewed ways to bolster bilateral relations regionally as well as internationally. HH the Crown Prince also received United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry. At the meeting, they discussed a variety of issues pertaining to climate change and exchanged views on the latest international developments as well as exploring areas for cooperation.

The meetings were attended by Kuwait Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Director General of Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Dr Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary at the Crown Prince Diwan Mazen Al-Issa and Kuwait Permanent Representative to the UN Tareq Al-Banai.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled also met with the President of the World Bank Ajay Banga. The meeting discussed various economic and investment issues. The two sides also exchanged views on how to expand cooperation. HH the Crown Prince affirmed the importance of bolstering cooperation between Kuwait and the World Bank, especially in the fields of developing consultancy services and programs to train Kuwaitis at the global institution to hone national cadres’ skills and expertise. Executive Director at the World Bank Group (WBG) Abdulaziz Al-Mulla was at the meeting.

His Highness the Crown Prince also received Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and its subsidiary Google, LLC where Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled expressed desire to increase the presence of global companies in the country and benefit from their expertise. The discussion covered several economic and investment topics, including the follow-up on the framework agreement signed with Kuwait and the planned development of data centers. HH the Crown Prince emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to developing and enhancing the technological skills of Kuwaiti youth. Country Manager of Google Cloud in Kuwait Shaymaa Al-Turkait was present. Both meetings were attended by Kuwaiti officials, in addition to Kuwait’s Ambassador to the US Sheikha Al-Zain Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Sabah. — KUNA
