KUWAIT: Farwaniya and Ahmadi governorates organized two environmental cleaning campaigns on Sunday, coinciding with the celebration of World Cleanup Day 2024, under the patronage and attendance of Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah and Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. In a press statement, Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Athbi Al-Sabah praised the efforts of the participants and volunteers in making the campaign a success, protecting the environment, and achieving sustainability of its resources, stressing the ongoing commitment to support environmental initiatives.

The aim is to preserve the environment and improve the quality of life in the governorate. Sheikh Athbi Al-Sabah expressed his thanks and appreciation to the director of the project, Dr Fatima Al-Moussawi, the organizers and volunteers in the project, in addition to the Farwaniya Governorate Security Directorate, the Medical Emergency Department, Farwaniya Municipality, Khaitan Cooperative Society, and everyone who contributed to the campaign.

For her part, Dr Fatima Al-Moussawi thanked the governor for his support and efforts in making the event a success, stressing that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s cooperation. Al-Moussawi added that they will continue to support activities that enhance environmental awareness and secure a better future for future generations.

In Ahmadi Governorate, another cleaning campaign was organized in cooperation in the Abu Halifa area square with the participation of volunteer teams and a number of residents and governmental and civil entities. Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah praised the efforts of the campaign participants, noting that it reflects environmental awareness and national spirit.

Sheikh Hamoud Al-Sabah expressed gratitude to Dr Fatima Al-Moussawi, the Board of Directors of Abu Halifa Cooperative Society, the Ahmadi Municipality Branch, the Governorate Security Directorate, and everyone who contributed to the campaign. During the two campaigns, large quantities of waste were removed — a clear message to enhance awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and achieving environmental and health sustainability. — KUNA
