the two leaders discussed the strong Kuwait-UN partnership and exchanged views over the Middle East, Sudan, peace and security in the Gulf region.

HH Sheikh Sabah also met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at his residence in New York. HH the Crown Prince relayed the greetings of HH the Amir to President Abbas. He asserted Kuwait’s unswaying solidarity and support to the Palestinian people in their quest to attain their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state.

HH the Crown Prince recalled the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution in its emergency 10th special session, which had garnered a sweeping majority and had relied on the International Court of Justice’s ruling regarding the Zionist occupation’s practices in occupied Palestinian lands and their illegal settlements. The two leaders deliberated the sturdy Kuwaiti-Palestinian relations and modes of developing them to serve both nations and boost joint Arab work.

UN members adopted a blueprint for the future Sunday to tackle the myriad wars, environmental threats and technological challenges facing humanity that was hailed by the organization as “groundbreaking”. Guterres, who championed the “Pact for the Future” and its components, billed them as “landmark agreements — a step-change towards more effective, inclusive, networked multilateralism”. HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah also addressed the summit.

Leaders pledged to bolster the multilateral system to “keep pace with a changing world” and to “protect the needs and interests of current and future generations” facing “persistent crisis”. “We believe there is a path to a brighter future for all of humanity,” the document says. The pact outlines 56 “actions,” including commitments to multilateralism, upholding the UN Charter and peacekeeping.

It also calls for reforms to international financial institutions and the UN Security Council, along with renewed efforts to combat climate change, promote disarmament, and guide the development of artificial intelligence. — Agencies
