Honking could land you in jail

KUWAIT: Police on Wednesday warned commuters that the unnecessary use of the vehicle’s horn by honking loudly is punishable by a fine of KD 25 and it could land drivers in jail if the matter reaches court. Lt Col Abdullah Buhassan said honking loudly, especially in residential areas, is a major penalty and drivers are allowed to honk only to avoid imminent danger from an incoming vehicle.

Ban on cash car sale transactions

KUWAIT: Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel issued a decision banning cash transactions in all car sales, effective Oct 1, with payments limited to banking channels. The ministry explained that this move aims to combat money laundering and financial crimes by allowing authorities to track the flow and sources of funds. The decision is part of broader efforts to protect Kuwait’s economy and international reputation from the harm caused by financial crimes like money laundering.

Evening school for juvenile delinquents

KUWAIT: The ministry of social affairs, in collaboration with the ministry of education, opened a new evening school for delinquent juveniles at the juvenile complex. This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive educational environment for 29 male and female students from various academic stages. The school is part of a broader strategy to support and educate juveniles in shelters, ensuring a high-quality learning atmosphere under the supervision of specialized staff. No Saudi recognition of Zionist entity

DUBAI: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday said the kingdom would not recognize the Zionist entity without a Palestinian state and strongly condemned the “crimes of the (Zionist) occupation” against the Palestinian people. “The kingdom will not stop its tireless work towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and we affirm that the kingdom will not establish diplomatic relations with (the Zionist entity) without that,” the crown prince said. – Reuters

US drone crashes near Yemen

WASHINGTON: A US MQ-9 Reaper drone crashed near Yemen, the Pentagon said Tuesday, after Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed to have downed several of the aircraft in recent days. “Yesterday, an MQ-9 did crash in the vicinity of Yemen. That is being investigated, but I don’t have any additional details to share,” Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder told journalists. The Houthis said Monday that they had shot down three MQ-9s in a week and 10 since last year. – AFP
