KUWAIT: Acting President of Kuwait University (KU), Dr Osama Al-Saeed, affirmed that the lofty message carried by the university has directed the educational process towards achieving the goals of the general strategic plan of Kuwait, which added importance to the role played by higher education institutions, most notably Kuwait University. This came in a speech he delivered during the annual reception ceremony for the new academic year 2024/2025 on Tuesday at the Cultural Center in Sabah Al-Salem University City.

The program brought together the university family and the new students who were accepted this year to join Kuwait University. Al-Saeed indicated that the university has paid great attention to the educational and research aspects through the solid academic foundation it has placed in the souls of its students and has worked to build its educational programs in a way that enables its students to occupy various positions in the state’s sectors.

The university pushes its youth into society to contribute to building the civilization of their country, praising the efforts of the university’s members, the academic body, and the administrative body in providing the appropriate environment for students. He expressed his thanks to the efforts of the wise political leadership, headed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Education, who surrounded this lofty academic edifice with care, support, and attention.

Dr Al-Saeed welcomed the visit of the Regional Director for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, Dr Anshwin Fernandez, to Kuwait University. In turn, the Acting Secretary-General of the University, Dr Fayez Al-Dhafiri, said in a similar speech that the role of the university is not limited to providing scientific information and scientific research only, but rather encouraging any achievement that would advance the university and provide all means to acquire the skills and capabilities sufficient to lead the march of progress.

Al-Dhafiri added that the success of Kuwait University came only as a result of the excellence and efforts of its students and employees, expressing the university’s pride in the qualified human competencies and administrative expertise of its graduates who are able to contribute to the development of the colleges. - KUNA
