CAIRO: The second session of the Kuwaiti-Egyptian labor committee was held in Cairo to discuss issues pertaining to bilateral cooperation. The session was chaired by Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Consulate Affairs Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani and Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Dr Mohammad Al-Badri. Speaking to KUNA, Ambassador Al-Daihani said that the meeting had touched on issues of mutual interest, including the status of Egyptian laborers in Kuwait.

He affirmed that there was an understanding between the two sides on issues pertaining to the excellent bilateral ties and the best ways to move them forward. Ambassador Al-Daihani pointed out that the Egyptian side had provided a briefing on the mechanism to evaluate the skills of Egyptian workers and licenses given to allow them to pursue work. The Kuwaiti delegation consisted of representatives from the Interior and Health Ministries in addition to the Public Authority of Manpower. The session is part of a series of sessions preparing for the Kuwaiti-Egyptian High Committee meeting to be headed by Foreign Ministers of both countries next month.

Al-Daihani affirmed the importance of developing action with Egypt to provide full and ongoing care for the citizens of both countries. He made the statement to KUNA after holding the 5th session of the Kuwaiti-Egyptian joint consular committee. This session comes in completion of the previous ones and preparation for the next meeting of the joint high committee to be co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both countries in September, Al-Daihani added.

Holding the session boosts the relations and cooperation between Kuwait and Egypt and shows their desire to develop consular action and its mechanism in implementation of the directives of the two countries’ political leaderships, he noted. The meeting discussed a number of consular issues, in addition to health and judicial cooperative ties, he pointed out. It concluded on a consensus on several issues of mutual interest to meet the aspirations of both Egyptians and Kuwaitis, Al-Daihani elaborated.

The two sides agreed on communication between the ministries of health in the countries to activate the Memorandum of Understanding in this field, he said. He underscored the significance of holding the committee due to its effective role in meeting aspirations of both Egyptians and Kuwaitis and the deep-rooted ties between the two sides. Al-Daihani is leading a delegation from the Ministries of Interior, Health, and Manpower. — KUNA
