KUWAIT: The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday the opening of the Umm Al-Maradem Island Clinic as part of the efforts of the Medical Emergency Department to provide basic medical services and first aid to the island’s visitors and workers, under the directives of Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi and in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior represented by the General Department of Coast Guard.

The Ministry said in a press statement that this step comes within the context of the continuous efforts to provide basic health care to various segments of society and to enhance health services and expand their reach to various regions of the country. She added that the clinic is affiliated with the Ahmadi Health Ambulance District, which contributes to enhancing its readiness to deal with emergency cases, noting that in the event of any emergency requiring urgent intervention, patients are quickly transported by helicopter (air ambulance) or speedboats and directed to the nearest general or specialized hospital to complete the necessary treatment.

The Ministry explained that the clinic reflects the keenness and commitment to providing integrated and comprehensive medical services in various parts of the country, including islands and remote areas, and also reflects the importance of cooperation between various government agencies to achieve health development goals and ensure the highest levels of safety and comfort for visitors to coastal areas and islands. — KUNA
