KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday the arrest of an international criminal network of five suspects who were smuggling drugs into the country.

They were found in possession of 60 kilograms of marijuana and hashish, with an estimated value of KD 750, 000 (around $2.4 million). The General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at the Ministry in a press statement praised the security personnel for their vigilance. Security officials were able to dismantle a criminal network that specialized in smuggling drugs from a European country into the country through Kuwait International Airport.

Two of the suspects work in the General Department of Customs and exploited their position to facilitate the smuggling of narcotics. The banned substances were seized, and all the suspects were arrested and referred to prosecution for necessary legal measures. — KUNA
